“En-Joie Golf Links” is not a
links type golf course. It is based upon the “En-Joie Golf Club” which
has hosted the B.C. Open since 1971. I changed the name because this
rendition is not accurate. I used the hole layout with all it’s water
hazards and most of the lengths, but did not use the elevations or the
textures of the real “En-Joie Golf Club”.
When this year’s B.C. Open rolled into town (I live about 20
miles from the location), I acquired the course layout from the local
paper. At first, I was intimidated by the amount of water hazards,
(eight altogether) and the amount of extras shown on the layout, such
as: bathrooms, a skybox, an elaborate practice area, concession stands
and first aid stations. So, I put the idea of creating a rendition on
the back burner until I finally got up the courage to attempt it. I
used a land plot I had made for another course (thus, the difference in
elevations to the real course) and textures I thought looked close to
the real golf club. After much effort, this is my tribute to the B.C.
Open. It includes an interesting area called the B.C. Rock Garden next
to the practice green and many other extras.
