The word "Po'okela" is Hawaiian, meaning "the best" or "The Great One."
This Resort lives up to its name. The South Course is the tamer of the
two at Po'okela, but it is no pushover. The views of the ocean, the
palms swaying in the gentle sea breeze, and the ambient noise of
paradise may be your biggest distraction. Staying focused on the golf
can be quite a challenge to many a visitor. Imagine trying to work the
courage to hit the tee shot at the par 3 17th when in mid-backswing, a
small herd of whales decides to sing you a powerful tune! Keep it
straight off the tee and Po'okela will yield its fair share of birdies,
but get too aggressive, and the lava cliffs and private beaches will
steal your golfball away from you making it difficult to get your score
to match the paradise you see.
